Day 4

In the beginning...

Yesterday evening we got our POWER 90 workout in and this morning we gave it a test run and I thought it went really well. Much easier than the p90x (as expected) but still got me to working some muscles that I haven't worked in a while. Heart rate was up and we brought it!

Had a nice morning with the wife - work was slow so we decided to take a nice walk together around the lake here in town. Ended up getting a good 3.4mile brisk walk in and then shared some subway (i had beef vegi soup with a grilled chicken salad, no cheese with oil and vinegar). We capped it off with a trip to walmart for some random items... it's been a good day.

Looking forward to tomorrow!

Day 3

Despite forgetting to blog for day 2 - we did work hard and complete the Cardio Intervals workout.

For day 3 (completed UML at 6am this morning) I thought I would share this..

Key to Success: FAILING!

Failure. We all hate it! We hate to fail. We much prefer success. But guess what? You can’t have success unless you make yourself vulnerable to failure. Do you want success with your Power 90/ P90X / Insanity transformation? You have to be willing to push yourself to the point of failure! Do you want success with your job / relationships / etc.? Then you have to go beyond your comfort zone and go all-in! Sure, you risk failure, but the rewards are so worth it!

Did you know that most successful people have failed many times before becoming successful? Success takes work, and if you let your fear of failure keep you from trying to succeed, guess where you’ll end up?

I have used this analogy before, but your health and fitness lifestyle change is like riding a bike without training wheels the first time. Chances are you will fall down multiple times. DO you give up? NO!! You keep dusting yourself off and you try again. Eventually you learn to do it and it becomes second nature. Did we fail on our nutrition during our transformation… YES! How did we still get great results? We would not give up. When we made a bad choice in food we didn’t give up and say “well we blew the diet anyway… might as well go all out”.. NO! We would actually feel guilty about it and we would try that much harder. As some of you know we fell off our workouts early on in P90X. That was the longest time we had fallen off. At that point it had already become part of our lifestyle to eat healthy, so fortunately we didn’t gain weight back, but we went backwards in our fitness abilities. That failure hurt. We let “life” get in the way, but exercise needs to be a part of your life and as coaches we needed to set a good example so we jumped back on even more committed than we ever had been. Life is full of failures. It is about what we do to improve ourselves so we do not make the same failure again. THAT is what defines us and makes us the most successful. The same thing applies to us as Christians. Do we give up when we fail (sin)? No way! We learn from our mistakes and ultimately it makes our relationship with God even stronger. God doesn’t give up on us either! No matter how many times we have fallen on our faces he is always there to help us get up.

Are you ready to step outside your comfort zone, risk the potential to fail, and go for it? Do it! Make no excuses! Commit 100%. P90 / P90X / Insanity will help you SUCCEED!

The same can be said for the actual workouts. They key to maximizing the workouts and getting the most transformation is to push yourself to the point of failure. If I were to go through all exercises without failing, my muscles wouldn’t be forced to respond. But I intentionally use weights that I either barely get 8-10 reps, or I fail trying…that failure is what gets me the change I’m after.

Are you getting to the end of a P90X lift workout without your arms feeling like they are about to fall off? Are you getting to the end of an Insanity workout without feeling like you need to collapse in a pool of your own sweat? Then you might consider pushing yourself closer to your point of failure. It will lead to greater success!

Motivation for the day
"Each day you make a choice, either get fitter or get fatter, there is no in between."
